Taking the Lead

We want everyone who joins our guided walks to have a safe and enjoyable experience. When you bring your dog(s) on one of our walks we expect you to to follow a few simple rules to help ensure that you, your dog(s) and the rest of the group have a great day out. We ask that you agree to abide by the following:

The whole responsibility for the dog lies with you as the dog owner and you must ensure that your dog remains under close and effective control at all times.

1

2

You do not let your dog off the lead unless you keep it in sight and are confident that it will return to you promptly on command.

3

You have a short lead with you and use it when needed, for example on roads, near livestock or in sensitive wildlife areas, or where signage requests it or wherever the law or other official regulations require it.

4

NEVER let your dog ‘worry’ livestock - remember, farmers are entitled to shoot dogs that are worrying, or are about to worry, farm animals!

5

You keep your dog with you on the Rights of Way or on access land (or you may be committing trespass against the landowner).  Respect our farming communities and their livelihoods.

6

Respect other people and don’t allow your dog to bother them.  Prevent your dog from approaching horse riders, cyclists, or other people and their dogs uninvited.

7

ALWAYS clean up after your dog - it is an offence to allow your dog to foul on a Public Right of Way – and dispose of all dog waste responsibly.

8

Your dog wears a collar with the name and address of the owner inscribed on it or a plate or badge attached to it (the law requires it).

9

You have appropriate liability insurance cover for your dog.  Note that our civil liability insurance does not extend to incidences caused by your dog(s) and we cannot be held liable for any loss, injury, illness or death.

We have the right to ask you to leave the walk at any time due to your dog’s actions.  Aggression towards other people (whether part of our group or not) or other dogs, or worrying livestock will not be tolerated!
